Can YOU tell me?

You know, the "DRIVEN" series is what I call a "vision" series - a series where Pastor communicates the overall vision of our fellowship. It's about our goals being "sticky", where we recognize them so we might make sure that we're all running in the same direction. With that being said...

Do you know what our motto is? (hint...he's said it every week since the series started... you hear me say on here often...)

Our motto is to: ___________ God, ______________ People and __________ _____ World. Can you fill in the blanks.

Did you know that when I we make decisions the filter that it is run through is: how does this fit what we do. What do we do? We ___________ God, ______________ People and __________ _____ World. That's it! If it doesn't fit in there we don't do it. Period.

This weekend, we will continue "DRIVEN" with the message "Driven by Obedience" which will tackle the 3rd part of our motto - which by the way, is to "Love God, Love People and Serve Our World". 3 things - simple. It's what JESUS did and it's what JESUS does through us. It's what we want to do because it's what HE wants us to do.

I hope you don't miss what will prove to be an interesting day (not to mention one to invite your guests to - aren't they all?) as we explore what true-service actually looks like to JESUS.

By the way... don't forget to bring your food for the "DRIVEN" Challenge Sunday - once again God used you this week. Our biggest supplier of help at hyde park is Hope Ministries here in Lumberton and they were in desperate need for food this week - guess what Eddie did? Yep, it's gone! Bring it on...

(oh, and we're still waiting for someone to step up HUGE in the challenge - every little bit helps but a big dontation would be SWWEEEET! Love you all - thanks for doing life with me!)

Not a Normal Tuesday!

Good morning! I'm in a "friday state-of-mind" if you know what i mean...

Really - i feel strange! I just got back from the gym and i'm really 'jacked' - i'm really in love with JESUS - really getting ready to dive into His Word (i can't wait to hear what He has in store for me today!)

The services at Leesville Road are going really well (your Pastor absolutely BROUGHT IT last nite!). There was a tension in that room! I'm really encouraged because this church is predominately young. On Sunday nite I would say the room was 75% under 40!!! Last nite it was probably 50% (not because more of the older crowd came out, but because the younger was not in full-force). The reason i'm so encouraged by them is that most churches I minister in outside of hp are predominately older, which is not encouraging when you consider the future of those churches - they often don't do well reaching the next generation...

Please pray for me today (even if briefly) as I am pulling a tough schedule - working in the office during the day, driving approximately 2hrs to serve at the Leesville Road service, then traveling home. (i'm communting daily). My prayer: that God would ignite a Holy Spirit flame that can not be extinguished by anyone or anything in this promising church!

The following video was done by Granger Church (who do so much to inspire me) promoting their food drive last year. Concerning the "DRIVEN CHALLENGE" - what kind of world do you want?

The "DRIVEN" Challenge

Drivencutout_2"Loving God, Loving People and Serving our World" - it's not just a motto - it's who hyde park is.

Jesus' ministry was definitely a "DRIVEN" ministry - JESUS was going to accomplish the mission He came to earth to do - no matter what, never mind the cost...

Next weekend (October 14th) we will begin a new message series that will help all of us to be "DRIVEN" in the direction that Jesus is leading us. To do this though, you have to understand your personal mission as Jesus did. We (as a church) as well must continue to explore the mission that He has given us and what it truly means to "love God, love people and serve our world".

JESUS has been leading us to see that there are so many needs in our world/our community - especially in the area of food assistance. Eddie d found out who the food assistance ministries in our region are and began calling and found something out something that was disheartening:

All of the local assitance ministries were in need of food. ALL OF THEM! Some were telling hungry people, "sorry, but you'll have to return in 2 weeks." What if that were you getting this news?

This should not be - with all of our local churches? We have the highest number of churches per capita in the state of NC. How can these ministries be hurting as they are? The answer:

everyone "assumes" everyone else is doing it!

So here's what we're gonna do about it: during the "DRIVEN" series, we're going to ask you (those who love God, love people and know you gotta serve YOUR world) to take the "DRIVEN CHALLENGE" -

EVERYTIME THAT YOU GO TO THE GROCERY STORE DURING THE "DRIVEN" SERIES BUY 2 CANS PER PERSON IN YOUR FAMILY - EVERYTIME YOU GO (you can buy more if you want to) and bring them on Sunday's during the series

If every attendee of hyde park will take this challenge seriously we will make a significant impact in supporting the food assistance ministries of our region and that, my friends, is a great way to begin serving "our world" and doing what JESUS said.

Let's blow this thing out of the water, "serve our world" and show people what kind of difference a "DRIVEN" church can make!!!
