Death. It is the one thing that everyone of us reading this post have in common. As my pastor has said so many times, "statistics show us that 100 out of every 100 people will someday die".
The thing that often bothers me is how ignorantly people brush off the fact that death is inevitable; not only do people not think about death but what they do know about death is often faulty. Turn the channels on your tv... listen to the people talking about the afterlife... they're talking to the dead... (some are even excited to be on a "highway to hell"). The statistics tell the truth: 91% of Americans say they believe in God, 87% believe in heaven; Yet when asked, fewer believed in hell (74%) and even fewer would ever place themselves in the group who will go there.
It's like I heard Pastor Perry Noble say in a message yesterday, "not one wants to sign up at the 'go to hell' table".
With this in mind, we have a brand new series beginning this weekend - "So You're Dead - Now What?": The
afterlife is cloaked in mystery. What happens moments after we die?
What is Heaven really like? What about Hell? Does what we do in this
world really matter in the next?
Honestly, it's shocking what people think about death. Check out the video below for yourself and be reminded how imperative our mission (yours and mine) is to those who don't know the truth.
With all the stuff going on with my Mom, I'd say this is a bigger thought in my mind than it's ever been previously. Some days it leads to a feeling of hopelessness and other days it leads to a motivation to make every moment count.
When I saw that LOST was having it's 100th episode last night, I thought; I will have spent a little over 4 days of my life watching this show. I want to do more that counts. More things that matter. Both to my family and the world around me. I pray people at Hyde Park will have the desire to LIVE bigger and better sparked by your conversation about the life after this.

Amen, Adam. Life itself is precious and we should absolutely live it to the full. On the other hand, is it not absolutely negligent to not confront people with the truth about the next that they will
1) make the necessary plans to make heaven their next destination AND
2) live out this life in such a way that others will see the life of Jesus living out and through us?
Appreciate your comment friend. Love you and know that we're praying for your mom and dad.

holy molers! these answers break my heart. "I try not to think about it" is the number one answer I hear. Are you kidding me??? That's like saying "well if I don't think about it, it won't happen." Death is coming for us all and we must be prepared or suffer the consequences! Kudos to Hyde Park for addressing such a serious topic. My pastor has been preaching on it as well!!!
